Share your opinion...Do you think Hip-Hop is dead??
-----------

They say the true from of Hip Hop is dead due to the lack of good music and conscious lyrics by new artists. Hearing that definitely brings pressure to new artists like myself. I question why we can’t look at the state of Hip Hop as an evolution of our culture. We have experienced various advancements and opportunities due to the explosion of our culture. So perhaps Hip Hop has taken a lighter tone due to our current state.
Hip Hop has drifted from the struggle that it was once known for. It was the job of the rapper to paint a lyrical picture of oppression, struggle, and fight. Is it just that artists don’t experience that type of struggle or have we as artists just adapted to our consumer?
Perhaps our audience wants music that has been dumb-downed; maybe they just don’t want to think any longer. Perhaps Hip Hop has moved into an era of mediocrity where it is no longer about the content but the Catchy Gimmick. But how can I question an industry that I am pursuing so endlessly? Or is it that I don’t want to be put into the same category as other artists coming out that are doing it for the sake of some quick ringtone money and not for the love of the culture?
Perhaps Hip Hop is dead or maybe it just has evolved into something that even we as artists fear because of what Hip Hop may turn into and not be remembered as the spirit or essence of the artists’ soul.
